I've already asked this question but i guess I would like to be more clear on what I need. I have overclocked my CPU to 4.0 but I had an issue where it froze on me after a few minutes it booted. So I guess my question is can any one run me through this process or guide me a bit or perhaps someone has a tutorial or video on how to do it step by step.

Thanks in advance!

Alright sorry its been a bit since my last post. However I did pick up the H80i cooler yesterday and have installed it last night. Temps dropped from 108 degrees to 79 degrees during stress. I know this is good but I have a quick question. I know my board cant OC much but im sitting at 4.0GHz OC on 8 cores, can I push it a bit further on all 8 cores with out disabling any cores or causing damage to the board, ram, or any components with this cooler. I will be picking up the Sabertooth 990 FX from my local Tigerdirect store here in town next pay check.

79 degrees is not good.

108 Degrees C!!!!!
Damn dude that must have fried the chip. Anyways, 79 C isn't that good for having a liquid cooler. My CPU at 3.7-3.8 Ghz runs at a max of 70 C on an Air cooler with room temperature of 25-30 C. It should not be going higher than 61 C which is what AMD states is the 'max safe temperature'. What stress test did you run and what room temp and voltage?

Sorry let me clear that up. Its 79 Degrees Fahrenheit and 26 degrees C. Sorry for the confusion. So I went from 108 F to 79 F. Stress test used what Aida64 Extreme

Very good.
I have a problem which I don't know if I should be concerned about or not. My pc is running at 0 degrees C and 32 degrees F
Is this a problem or something that I should be concerned about?

^ Umm your PC temps are at 0 C, the freezing point of water... is that not obvious enough lol. You're getting false readings.

Bad idea getting an AIO on that motherboard. You should have went with a top down cooler so that the VRMs would stay cooler.

Honestly I would avoid overclocking on that board.

Yeah on this motherboard and CPU I get lower readings on 'CPU #0'. You have to look at the temps under motherboard that say 'CPU' (using HWiNFO).
Readings are a bit weird for me including vcore voltage which fluctuates a bit (seems to be normal). Also, temperatures are incorrect most of the time I have been told.

Hey its been a while but I just got the Corsair Carbide Air 540 and the Corsair H100i. Can any one tell me the best air flow for this case. I have the front 2 fans sucking in the back fan blowing out, and the top 2 on H100 sucking in. Thanks

I would put the H100i in the front, and have air getting pulled into the case through the radiator. Always have top fans blowing air out, because hot air rises.
Either that or put the H100i on the top, pusing the air out rather than pulling it in.
Having it on the front will give slightly better temps for the cpu, but will cause slightly hotter temps for the rest of the components. The opposite happens when you have the radiator mounted on the top.

Okay ill mess with it this weekend. I have a question though. a buddy of mine is giving me a board __ ASUS M5A99FX __ and Kingston HyperX Beast 1600 RAM (2x4GB sticks) for 115.00 but what im wondering is what is the difference between the ASUS M5A99FX and ASUS M5A99X EVO ‑ 2.0

also on the GPU which is better. radeon hd 7970 or r9 280x

This board will be replacing my lame ASRock 970 Pro 3 im not happy with.

Glad you're getting rid of that schonky board - the asrock pro is a truly awful board for an 8 core fx.
The 7970 & 280x are virtually the same card- 280x runs slightly faster - buy on price & brand rather than specs as there's really nothing between them.

I'm glad I'm getting rid of it too. But now that I'm getting more and more into overclocking I need a better board.
I was told to go with the 7970 a few weeks ago but let me ask this. Would two R9 270X 2GB be better than 7970 or would I be better off going with the 7970 alone. When we say the 280x is slightly faster what type of faster are we talking about. I'm looking for something that would play the new GTA coming to pc, Destiny when ever it comes out, and Tom Clancy's the Division.

Oh okay, I was just curious because I wanted to know which was better but I hear they are the same chip set just fewer USB ports and such. But hey he's hooking me up with the board and faster better ram so I cant complain for the price.

So i know this is a different post of mine but I did end up getting the board. Now all I need to do is OC it but I have no clue how to but id like to reach a good OC 4.5 or over if some one could help me with the board. I did get new ram also HyperX 1600MHz 8GB from the kingston 1333MHz 8gb if that helps with OC also. But from the beginning i've upgraded my Case, board, ram, cooler, GPU will be next

This board is fine when running at stock clocks and maybe a mild increase in the multiplier. It's not intended to be done any overclocking on it, at least for a 6-8 core FX processor. I would also love to change mine but too unfortunately I feel like its just not worth it right now because even with a massive overclock this CPU still won't match Intel's Haswell series chips. Plus, I rather upgrade other components like the GPU and ram instead. I'm going to be switching from my shitty CM Force 500 case soon :)

Have you switched your motherboard yet @xeriian? If so, please tell me how everything is doing :)

I've upgraded RAM and Board. M5A99FX PRO R2.
Cant really find any answers on how to stable OC my board to 4.5GHz and up. They say my board isnt for overclocking that far....kinda sucks
