This is my current setup, got the CPU to overclock with almost no issues but I cannot for the life of me get the Corsair RAM to clock up to 1066. I saw in other forum posts they got this memory up to 1185 but even when I set my CPU to defaults and manually set this RAM to 2.1v and 1066 it will not boot. It runs at 888 just fine, no errors. Prime95 runs great for CPU, top out at 60C full load on both cores.

Wanted to post for info as well as ask WHY does my memory suck so bad. Need suggestions to figure out why it doesn't work at 1066. I do have 2 sets of the same RAM installed so 4x2Gb sticks, timings are all the same. I set it to 5-5-5-18 with no luck even though elsewhere I see it running 5-5-5-15. Help! Thx!

I know this thread is old but I could really use some help. I think I made a mistake with my last purchase of MBs. I have for the last 4 years been running a ASUS P5K-E/WiFi MB. It uses the Intel P35 chipset and ICH9R Southbridge. I did some trading and was able to get a Q9650 Quad Core Rev. E0. I have had this chip up to 420 FSB and found after 405 FSB I was getting little gain so I left it at 405. Needless to say I found a new problem and it was with my MB. The newer faster SSD drives refused to run stable on either of my SATA controllers (JMicro or ICH9R). I found this was a none issue and it seemed the only option was to upgrade.

My original Rig:

Pentium Q9650 CPU (All Copper ZeroTherm cooler)
ASUS P5K-E Motherboard
Saphire 4850x2 GPU
4 x 1GB Geil Black Dragon DDR 1066 RAM
Mushkin Modular 550 watt PS.
Antec LanBoy Case (Alum.)
300GB VelociRaptor HD
1TB Samsung 7200RPM HD

New Rig:

Pentium Q9650 CPU (All Copper ZeroTherm cooler)
ASUS P5QL-VM DO Motherboard
HIS Radeon 4890 GPU (sold 4850x2 due to case issues)
4 x 1GB Geil Black Dragon DDR 1066 RAM
RAIDMAX Modular 730 Watt PS.
ThermalTake LanBox Case (Window)
OCZ SSD 60GB Drive
1TB Samsung 7200RPM HD

My issue is now I can not over clock past 361 FSB. I have tried every change I can think of and the machine will not post. I know the issue is not the RAM or the CPU it has to be the board. It is an ASUS and does offer overclocking in the Bios but it seems to be very limited compared to my older P5K-E board. My RAM is stuck at 880mhz which is total crap. I should have none I was in trouble when I was force with restrictions due to my Case, RAM, and CPU. The Case only supports Micro and ITX boards. I needed a new chipset board that works with DDR2. I tried to find a Q45 board and there were non other than Intel. This is an Intel B43 chipset board but it had the ICH10 south bridge I needed to run the faster SSDs.

Any thoughts please?

hello , i have an big problem and i need your help.
i have P5QC and E8400 but i bought 2*ddr3 1600 corsair,
please help me how to over clock the bus memory 1333 to 1600!!!
please tell me by details.
thanks

i have p5q pro turbo, q6700, ocz 1066, radeon 4870, i have been wanting to oc my system for a long time and i used your q6600 settings and they work fine, so far stable testing w/ seti at home. aat 100% load core temps are 91,89,85,84. the 91 is a little higher than i wanted but so far it is stable. my zalman reserator is holding it's own.
