I was wondering how far I could OC (STABLE) the 6300. I will upgrade the PSU or anything else if needed, I just want the best performance out of the chip. I dont really want to go past 750w, but I can.

Please tell me:

A) The voltage the cpu will need
B) The speed at which the cpu will operate post-oc
C) The wattage and a suggestion of a MODULAR PSU

Thanks :D

Ooo i dont know man,If you have good water cooling like a H100i GTX, then probably 4.7ghz.

YOu need liquid nitrogen to get upto 5ghz

What about a 8320? Its cheaper and I can OC it to match a 8350's performance

Thanks :D. Will I need to get a higher wattage on my PSU for 4.4GHz - 4.5GHz?

Ok listen here. First of all, you need a better motherboard if you want overclock your CPU having standard cooling. If you want a 970 chipset motherboard you really have 1 good option which is the Gigabyte 970A-UD3P rev 2.0 . If you can spend a bit more you can get a 99FX chipset motherboard and you'll be just fine overclocking. Second of all, the FX 6300 is not really good. You can look at the FX 6350 which has a base clock of 3.9Mhz. You can OC that baby to around 4.3MHZ whitout changing the voltage. Changing the voltage to a bit more you are looking at around a 4.5MHz overclock and you already have squeezed the performance of an 83xx with a lot less money.

Your PSu is just fine, your GPU is a little beast and your good to go.

Thanks for the help dude! I've decided to grab an 8320 and OC that, but I definitely will get a better mobo.

It's up to you dude but you will have to OC that 8320 in order to even reach the 6350....
