Hi, firstly, I live in Brazil, so my average temperatures are 25-35 C degrees. My system specs are:

-Windows 10 64 bit
-Corsair 800 W
-Gigabyte GTX 1060 6GB
-Intel Core i5 2500K
-Gigabyte H61M-S2PH

I'm pretty newbie to overclocking. I currently play Battlefield 1 on 20-25 FPS, and it drops to 5-10 sometimes. Some people say I should overclock my CPU since it is old (I bought it on late 2011) and it is the component that is limiting the GPU. I know how to acess BIOS and I have MSI Afterburner to check temperatures and usage. Do you know any good guides for me? I am an amateur, I don't know what should I overclock: the thing that has the GHz specification? Does my model of Motherboard affect my CPU overclocking process? Should I buy anything?

Battlefield 1:
Online specs: 15-30 FPS; 6,7 GB RAM; GPU 70 C degrees; CPU 75-85 C degrees.
Campaign specs: 40-60 FPS; 4,5 GB; GPU 70 C degrees; CPU 75-85 C degrees;

*I'm also using the standard intel core cooler that came with the processor.

Solution
you are already using the STock cooler and you are already reaching 85+ in temp of CPU more then that CPU will starts throotling you should not overclock unless you can buy after market cpu cooler

Yes, I forgot the Z77 chipset. And i agree, it's gonna be some expensive extra MHz you will get if you need to buy a new motherboard.

If you are going to buy a new CPU you will also have to buy new motherboard and new RAM, in other words a new system. What to do with the old one is up to you, sell it, throw it, put it in a frame or whatever you like 😉 Seriously, with a bit luck you can get a little money for it on the second hand market.

I wouldn't only buy a CPU. I would give your system an overhaul. That is an EXPENSIVE venture which means a new CPU, motherboard and RAM. I would wait for coffee lake to make its debut. See what that does to the current gen of CPUs and boards. Sell the old CPU, RAM, motherboard as a barebones kit.
