Overclocking monitor to a higher resolution on mac mini

So, i'm about to buy a mac mini, i would like to push the mac mini to be able to run at 1440p on a 1080p. Here are my goals

1. Use mac mini and this https://code.google.com/p/mac-pixel-clock-patch/wiki/Documentation to remove the limitations and change the display from my samsung monitor to 1080 to 1440.

My main question here is can i do this, or will i encounter problemms?

your monitors panel has a specific pixel count. you cannot run higher resolution. the overclocking is refering to the hz. making your monitor run at higher vertical refresh rate.! as said in the link you have posted ''Slowly increase the refresh rate to see how far your system can go'' if you reach a non supported hz, monitor most probably will go black!
