I have an Apacer 4Gb ram that I just got not too long ago. I know I can use it on my motherboard but I need to overclock it. Please teach me. Thx in advance.

(The Apacer 4Gb ram is AU04GFA33C9TBGC)

Solution
If you cannot get into BIOS with your 1333Mhz ram, it is probably bad ram. When you first install ram and enter BIOS, the ram might default to 1066MHz and you then should be able to OC it to advertised speeds and set the correct voltages. Do not try to run 2 different types of memory together. Lot's of times even the exact same memory sticks will not work together unless they were purchased together as a kit. Purchased together they were tested together making sure they worked together. You might get lucky and be able to run different manufacturers sticks of the same timings and MHz but usually you will have problems. That's my experience anyways.

Oh i see... Well I will update you soon whether it worked or not. Back in 8 hours...

(Update: Yes I found out my bios is running on version 32.10 which is outdated. Will update it and will inform soon on situation.)

Well just when I was about to update my bios, I found out that I can download a feature called Live 5. It is a feature in my motherboard that enables me to update my bios without much hassle. More info can be found here: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/G41M-P33-Combo.html

Now should I use the feature or manually update it?

DO NOT USE LIVE UPDATE TO FLASH YOUR BIOS! That software is not reliable and has been known to brick some ppl's MBs!

Is this your MB? http://www.msi.com/product/mb/G41M-P33.html#/?div=Overview

If so, use M-Flash to update the BIOS.

Well it's close but I am using a G41M-33 Combo. They are slightly different. Well thx for the tip. Almost download the software. Well, I did some research and it seems you need a format pen drive or something the can store information. Is this true and if no, how do I do it because I tried using my 500GB external hard drive it doesn't work even though I have the file for the update bios in it.

I have an even better recommendation for you: http://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=116721.0

This tool works by giving DOS commands to flash the BIOS and is the safest way to do it by far! Let me know if you have any problems or questions with it.

I see it's really helpful. But can you explain the part where it say that it will need you to enter your USB Flash Drive? I don't understand that part

OK -

1) D/L the compressed BIOS file for your MB. DO NOT extract the .ZIP file. Remember where you put the file.
2)Plug a flash drive into your computer's USB 2.0 port.
3)D/L and install the Flash tool on your computer. Run the tool and select "Option 1". Point the tool to your saved BIOS file and the tool will extract the new BIOS file and place it with the necessary software on the USB drive.
4) Reboot your computer and keep pressing F11 to bring up the boot menu. Point the boot menu to your USB drive.
5) Allow the computer to boot from the USB drive. Follow the on-screen instructions. The tool strongly recommends running Memtest 86 but I just ignore that. No need to unless you suspect your memory is faulty.
6) Shut down the computer and unplug it.
7) Clear the CMOS by shorting the appropriate pins on your MB. Refer to the manual for their location.
8) Plug in the computer and restart. Press DEL to enter the BIOS. In the BIOS, press F6, which loads Optimized Defaults.
9) Press F10 to "Save and Exit".

That's it! All done! Just be sure that you don't turn off the computer during the flash or you could brick your MB.

Good luck!

That's fantastic! Thx man! Help me out quite a lot. However I am actually suspecting my ram to be faulty. My Apacer 4GB 1333Mhz ram. But the problem is, I would like to do the Memtest 86 but when I use my Apacer 4GB 1333mhz ram to start my computer, I would just beep 3 times. Is there a way of checking whether the ram is faulty other than plugging it into another computer?

Yes! Install the flash tool + BIOS file on a USB Drive and let the computer boot from the flash drive. The first option when the new flash tool boots is to run Memtest 86. Select "Y" for Yes and the tool will then run the Memtest 86 program.

Okay... But the thing is that I can't even boot my BIOS if I use my 4GB 1333Mhz Apacer ram. So how do I check?

P.S Gotta sleep now be back in 7 to 8 hours. Already 1 in the morning.

If the computer will not POST the BIOS (Power On Self Test) then the memory is either incompatible with your system or it's defective. It is not possible to test the memory if it will not POST the BIOS. Use some other memory.

Good night! Sleep tight!

Okay thx man. Now I have to update my bios. Will update about the situation soon.

P.S. Today is my last day of school so I can try to fix my computer at last. 😀

(Update: Okay now I am stuck. What is this I put your USB Drive letter to proceed?)

(Update 2: Okay I figured out the USB Drive letter. Mine was K... Anyway I also found a pen drive that was hidden in my house. It was not used. So in short, now I can not use the app. But I think I will still use it because it is much safer.

It is most likely that your 1333MHz memory is bad. The two BIOS updates that I mentioned earlier that improved memory compatibility, were 32.8 and 32.9. If you are running BIOS 32.10 like say, you should be OK. Maybe you better think twice about a BIOS update, especially with a MSI board.

Well it's too late... Anyway my bios update went successful. Go yay. Anyway, I am about to confirm whether my ram is broken or something else. 90% confident it is my ram. Will update in a minute.

Well it's too late... Anyway my bios update went successful. So yay. Anyway, I am about to confirm whether my ram is broken or something else. 90% confident it is my ram. Clearing CMOS now. Will update in a minute.

(Update 2: Successfully updated my bios. :) Time to check and see if it is my ram or my computer problem... The moment of truth 😀

P.S. Getting late for school... Don't really care because last day of school but got exam still...

(Update 3: YES. Ram problem confirmed. Okay. Trillion of thanks need to be given to you guys for helping me out! Couldn't thank you guys much more :) In solving this issue, ram confirmed dead, power supply fan suddenly made a loud sound, and my learned many many things about ram and bios! Thx guys. I think I am going to post another form on other topic soon! Keep and eye out! Thanks once again :)

P.P.S Getting REALLY late for school now...

Glad to hear that you got the BIOS update done without any problems. Pretty slick tool, eh?

Good luck resolving the memory issue!

Well I sent my ram to the computer shop and they tested the ram. Well it turns out it works strangely. Well they say it's my motherboard but I doubt because I am able to use my DDR2 1GB Kingston Ram.

The fact that your Kingston RAM works with your MB proves that your MB is OK. For whatever reason, the new RAM and your MB are just incompatible. It is not your fault or the shop's, you just need to exchange the RAM for some other brand or model.

Yogi

Well it's true according to the website saying that it is able to support DDR3 1333Mhz once OC but I've tried before using an Apacer ram that is 1333Mhz and it just wouldn't boot. It just beeps 3 times meaning to ram found.
