Here is my build:

InWin GRone Case
MSI Z87 GD65 Mobo (BIOS 1.9)
Intel i7 4770k
Noctua NH-D14 Cpu Fan
16GBs (2x8) GSkill Trident (2400mhz)
MSI GeForce GTX 770 OC 2GBs
Corsair 600CM PSU
Cruical M500 246GB SSD

Just built this PC and last night updated all of the drivers. I tried the OC Genie but it went into a reboot loop. I am running XMP so i am going to try and turn down the RAM to get the CPU OC stable. I have been doing a TON of reading but wanted to know if anyone has experience with this combo and a good baseline to start OC.

I am using the PC for Gaming and want to get longevity out of the build (IE not upgrade 1-2 years down the road unless necessary).

Solution
I have an overclocked 4770k on a z87-g45.
IMO the oc genie is aweful, and is not very accurate.
I would go into the bios, se voltage at manual, set is at 1.25, and then increase the max turbo boost multipliers up, until it fails, and then go down 1.
You can go up to 1.3v, but 1.25 is a safe voltage to work with

Solution
I would recommend using bios settings to OC as well over the OC Genie. For a simple OC you can just change the CPU ratio to 42 for 4.2GHz and leave your voltages on auto, depending on CPU you might want to go lower if you just want a quick OC while you learn your settings / to OC. I would recommend that you set your RAM voltage instead of auto as well as enabling XMP setting or enter the settings for the RAM manually.

I have the same ram and mb as you do. My over clock genie works fine. I have the i5 4670k. Stock is 3.4 / Turbo bost is 3.8 and over clock genie @ 4.0.
You could try as you said to run your gskills @ stock (1333) and then over clock together.
You could send a message to "dandn0ten" he has the same board and manually overclocks his i5 to 4.5

I have the same MOBO and CPU and i was able to get 4.4Ghz easy, I also have Gskill 2666 running at 2800 timings at 11-13-13-13 so dont kill your ram speeds bra.

MFBLO96 hit the nail on the head. You want to set the "ring" multiplier manually, get your voltages at about 1.25-1.30 and test a lot.
