Overclocking my e4500

I have an e4500 and i was thinking of overclocking it to 3.0 ghz(2.2ghz is stock). From what i hear that is going to produce a lot of heat, what cooling solution do you think is best?
I have a 600 w PSU(corsair i think), which has to run an e4500, an intel core 2 duo and a ati 5770.

Your E4500 will be easy to overclock to 3.0ghz that is a relatively mild overclock those chips can reach 4ghz in the right motherboard setup. As for your heat it shouldn't be too bad since it isnt that big of an OC you want you will have to get HWmonitior to monitor your temps as you overclock if they start getting above 65C at full load then you will have to get an after market cooler. I recommend getting an after market cooler anyway. Now before I can help you any further you will have to tell me what motherboard you have in your system.

It's for an EP35-DS3L but all the Gigabyte Core2 BIOS's are similar.

Go through the guides. Then take your core voltage off Auto and set your memory voltage to factory recommended values. Change the System Memory Multiplier from AUTO to 2.00, 2.00B, or 2.00D - whichever you need to set the Memory Frequency to twice the FSB. Then when you increase the FSB, the memory clock will rise in in proportion with it. At an FSB of 200 MHz, your memory clock should be at 400 MHz.

Download CPU-Z to check your FSB:RAM ratio. It should be a 1:1 ratio.

Then start the overclock process.

The E4500 is a 65 nm CPU. Keep your temps under 70 C and your CPU voltage under 1.5 volts.

They all require a somewhat different approach to applying thermal compound.

And they are pretty large, so they might not fit inside your case.

Um, I tell you what. I've got e4700@3.46ghz and before I had e4600@3.2ghz. What I've learned is that even 1.45v is too much for those cpus. The next thing is that yes, totally agree with jsc, 70C for them is max if you dont wanna buy a new one in a half of a year.(my both e4600 and e4700 need now more juice then before and I even had to lower the clock.) The third thing is that I am not quite sure whether your mobo supports 1066fsb. If it doesn't, set the FSB voltage +3 at once. It won't destroy it. I've got ga-945pl-s3 with crappy cooling on it and works fine for over two years now. And just for you to now, this cpu is bottlenecking your gpu. No matter what clock you set. You'd need at least four cores. Really, 5770 needs a better cpu. Oh, right, cooling, look for something cheap, at 3ghz it wont produce much heat, and im guessing youll need to set the voltage at 1.375 or something like that, oh, before you buy anything, see what are the temps with the stock cooling. Hello guys Im with the Same processor E4500 and im planing to overclock it but the problem is that i found out im with some stupid ASUS motherboard that do not let me do anything.

I want to ask you What is the best Motherboard for Overcloking the e4500?
im planing to change the whole motherboard instead to buy a new pc with faster cpu.
the idea is that if i get a new super motherboard and of course coolers i can overclock my processor and no need to buyng complete new system just for NOW 😀

All opinions are wellcome.
