Hello guys,

i'm new to OC and i been doing some research and YouTube for hours but i'm still a beggeners and i need your help.

basically i have i7-7700K (h100i v2 Cooling) and MSI z270 M5

yesterday i attempted to OC to 5.0Ghz at Vcore 1.270v

the AIDA cpu stress test showed stability and good temperature ( i didn't run the FPU stress because it will instantly show overheat.

anyways i tried to play csgo + stream it on high quality and i was able to do that for about 30 mins till i got a blue screen. (system works fine on 5.0ghz with good temps) and crash only happens when streaming and playing csgo on high settings (cpu usage is maxed out 85-95%)

i increased voltage to 1.275v and the stress test showed high temp (90+)

so i went back -0.005 voltage.

i looked around internet and most people do 1.3v for the 5.0 OC

but since i got high temp at lower than that i didn't bother to check..

can you guys help me? should i go bellow on frequency or should i try higher voltage ? or maybe tweak with ram speed?

btw XMP was off during the whole time.

Something is wrong with your cooling, u shouldnt reach even close to 70C when gaming and streaming at your voltage. I run prime95 my 7700k clocked to 5GHZ, at 1.310v under budget cooler in close matx case, temperature never reached 80C.
You should fix your cooling first only then attempt to overclock, try to...

hello makentox, thanks for your replay

yes its weird, and yes my cooler is working properly! its idle temp is 25-35 and goes to 60c when gaming (without OC)

what do you recommend me to do with the voltage ? should i just jump to 1.3v ? since people always talk about the sweet spot for the OC voltage, what if this particular one isn't suitable?

note: did i mention that temp is stable at v1.270 ? it doesn't go beyond 80c on heavy load (streaming and gaming ) on 5.0

Well u can check this graph to compare. My results with 7700k were 1.310v for 5ghz, temp never went above 80 during Intel burn test and were using cryorig h7 which is budget cooler.http://www.overclock.net/t/1621347/kaby-lake-overclocking-guide-with-statistics
Try intel burn test as it works best at least for me. Aida just not good... i can pass aida for several hours and then just crash in cinebench r15 or internett surfing

i will try to test with burn test ,but i want to fix the issue of crashing (blue screen while streaming for a bit of time)

knowing that the temp is good! so why is it crashing? little voltage? how much do i wanna increase?

Each chip is different u should just increase voltage until it stable. Some people can achieve 5ghz at 1.3 other need 1.35. Also make sure u dont touch anything yet beside multiplier and manual (static) voltage until u find stable voktage range. Check for voltage drop which happens during stress test. If it drop bellow 0.030+, adjust LLC in bios set it to higher level

i understand, but about the last part can you ellaborate on it? with a YT video or a link explaining how to check voltage drop and what to look for ? thanks again

tonight i will try increasing voltage step by step from 1.270 all the way to 1.30 if that doesnt work i will go low voltage and drop frequency to 4.9

UpdatE: i managed to OC to 4.8 with 1.270V and stressing using prime95 was successful and lasted for 1 hour now i know thats not enough but after that i streamed for two hours and didn't crash so all of these are good signs and might ran longer tests.

temps reached 100c a few times during stress test but while gaming and streaming for two hours of high quality and 2k graphics in csgo it never reached anything above +85c

You should fix your cooling first only then attempt to overclock, try to remount your cooler but only if you have extra tube with thermal paste. Download corsair software to check your fan/pump speeds. You can also visually check if all fans spinning and touch the pump to feel vibration or you can hear it too during heavy load.
