OverClocking my laptop

I have a old HP Compaq Presario c700 with 3gb ram, Intel GMA X3100, Windows 7 64 bit and 1.83 GHz processor (Intel core 2 duo T5550) . Can I safely overclock my processor without any damage? If yes, how ? What are the risks ? How can I avoid those ? Will there be any damage to the computer like not booting up, shutting down frequently due to overheating etc. ? Any links and references will also help. I am a beginner so please explain in detail.

P.S: I know my laptop is old but I surely don't want to fry it up and lose it.

IMHO, laptops do not overclock well because they have very limited thermal solutions.
