Overclocking on Gigabyte h61m-s2-b3?

Hi everyone. I have Gigabyte h61m-s2-b3 motherboard and i am planning to buy i5-2500k and radeon hd 7850 with 500w power supply.

Will i be able to overclock i5-2500k to more than 4ghz?

Not a good Mobo for OC, you could but not ideal. You might do some light OC's on it tho.

You can't overclock on that motherboard, Intel locked overclocking to the higher end chipsets for that platform eg. P67, Z68 or Z77. At best you might be able to play around a bit with the Turboboost settings and maybe get an extra 1-200MHz (if the BIOS on that board allows for it) but that would be it.

I didnt know that. So what locked cpu would be a good idea to get instead of i5-2500k?

If you want to do a CPU upgrade without upgrading your motherboard, the only options are Sandy and Ivy Bridge i7s like the 2600 or 3770. The 3770 would likely need a BIOS update to work though.
