What is a safe HT speed to run at.

Right now according to CPUZ it is running at 1150mhz.

I have my ddr/cpu ratio at 2/1.8 something or other. Otherwise at stock I can't get my ram past 215mhz.

Right now the opty is running at 2.3ghz and I'm sure I have room to go, I have a huge towercooler and OCZ performance DDR400 memory.

Ok next question. I'm totally confused at how to get this thing overclocked properly.

What should I set my HT at I have the options of
1x
1.5x
2x
2.5x
3x
3.5x
4x
4.5x
5x
auto

What should my CPU clock ratio be at

What should my DDR speed be set to.

What should my DDR/CPU ratio be set too.

By setting my DDR/CPU ration down to 2/1.83 I was able to get it to 2.3ghz but that made my HT run at 1150mhz...

I guess I don't get how the all the numbers work together in the bios.

I'd like to get it to 2.4ghz.

HELP!

As Mpilch said, keep your HTT frequency around 1000 MHz. My 170 has been doing 2.7 GHz at 1.3v on a cheapo Biostar 6100 micro ATX board for a few months, 2.6GHz at 1.3v on an Asrock 939 dual Sata board (another cheapo) for over a year. On the Biostar, I have the cpu multi at 10, FSB of 270, and the RAM (OCZ Platinum) at 203MHz, CAS 2 (Mem to FSB of 2/3 ie;133/200). My HTT multi is 4, so HTT is at 1080. Completely stable and cool without any voltage increase on anything. The Asrock was about the same, just the FSB at 260 MHz (probably would have done 270 just fine though.) I'd suggest fooling with CPU core voltage last, if at all.
Just set your FSB high, and set your multipliers on everything else so that they run around spec.

Sweet thanks for the help guys. I'm at 4x HT, 10x multiplier (Have a Gigabyte GA-K8N-Ultra 9 mobo and the F8 bios only allows 10x multiplier) I'm using 2/1.66 cpu/ddr ratio and running mem at 250mhz.

Running 2.5ghz with HT at 1003 and bus speed of 250mhz and ram at 209mhz.

Have to test prime95 overnight to make sure stable but I don't think it will have an issue. Then I'll try for 2.6 and see if stable and just leave it at that.

Thanks for the help! I think I understand the math of things now.
