Overclocking Patriot 4 RAM (DDR4 2400MHZ 2x4GB)

Slightly new to overclocking, wondering how I would go about boosting clock speed on this RAM. Is there a program or would it have to be done through BIOS?

You need to purchase memory rated for the higher speeds , 2400 won't OC to say 3000 or 3200. You need memory at that spec to possibly run it. 2400 won't reach those speeds.

What do you think would be the highest speed I could get to? It's not really too important that it's super fast I'm a pretty casual gamer.

Not much above the 2400 , if any at all. They are binned for 2400 and usually won't go much higher. More speed needs higher speed rated modules , 3000 to 3200 is decent on Ryzen.

But would 2400 MHZ work decent on Ryzen 7 1700x? Like what would be the performance increase from 2400 to say 3000?

Not a ton , but Ryzen is built to run better on faster memory. You will still get good performance out of your setup.

You may get 2666 from 2400 but it's going to take a bit of tweaking and testing. 2400 to 2666 would probably yield a 3-5 FPS increase roughly.

Just use it at 2400mhz if you don't want to do that work for a small gain and when you go to upgrade just buy a 2x8gb kit @3200.
