Hi guys, I hope this is the correct forum for this post (sorry if it isn't)

I have bought myself a new PC with the following specs:

E6600 @ 3Ghz,
Thermaltake black tsunami dream case,
8800 GTX
Abit AB9 Pro
1 GB Geil PC6400 CL4 RAM
Zalman CPU Heatsink Cooler (the big 120mm one but I cant remeber its name)

The issue I'm having (if it is an issue) is that the CPU temp under no stress whatsoever reads no more than 19 degrees C, and under extreme stress (usually a good 4 hours worth of play) puts out no more that 25 degrees C, with the system temp usually being a couple of degrees below the CPU temp. The problem is that a friend with a similar setup e.g e6600 and 8800 GTX (but with a different case, motherboard and upgraded fan) pushes out temps of over 30 degrees C when under no stress. When I clock my CPU to 3.4 Ghz I get about 34 degrees C when under heavy stress. I'm very worried that my temp readings are wrong - has anybody got any ideas on how I can test this to see if the readings are wrong, or do other people get the same temp readings as me with a similar setup.

Basically I don't want to be putting pressure on my system until I'm sure there is not a problem.

Thanks.

If you are using coretemp or tat to measure those temperatuers than you are fine.

I think it's the temperature monitoring software.

I'm have a sofware called NextSensor(or something like that). It reports that my CPU temp is 19C, and my Core temp is 30C. To me, according to my software, 'CPU temp' is the heatsink, and 'Core temp' is the core(s) of the CPU.

I have a E6400 @ 3.2ghz running at 45C idle and about 63C under full system load with tat. As long as your CPU with core temp doesnt exceed 70 you will be fine for a few years. But if you want your CPU to last more than 2-3 years than i would recommend keeping it under full load at a max of 50C.
