Overclocking the intel G3258 help!

hi every one, I am new to overclocking here, and yet i am wonder is my system can handle the cpu overclocking to 4.7 Ghz.

I am currently using a EVGA 500w psu and a
Gigabyte LGA 1150 Intel H81 motherboard. 8GB of Vengeance, and a Intel pentium G3258. Also with a Radeon hD 7950 boost.

Do I need a new psu for this OC? and its safe to ? cause I am running the computer almost all day long. Not for gaming tho, I am running it for school work and yes some gaming and video editing. Thanks

the G3258 used 119w at 4.8ghz. So that plus I have seen HD7950's use 300w+ on full load. It would work as your computer wouldn't be at full load very often however, you are cutting it close.

That's total system power. 500w would be fine even with an i7 oced.

so, if it work, do I need another CPU cooler or an extra fan ? Cause I am currently using a stock cooler and a fan that come with the case.thanks

You won't be able to oc much on the stock cooler. But you don't need anything expensive, something like a 212 evo.

I have my G3258 at 4.0ghz on stock cooler and it never exceeds 60c while stress testing or gaming. It depends largely on your climate.
