Hi all, I will be getting the AMD Ryzen 5 2600 very soon and was wondering if I am able to overclock the CPU to 4.1Ghz to get extra performance with the stock cooler? or should I get a better cooler so that the temps don't go sky high?

Thanks,
Edwin.

Solution

Test it out first. Then if you want more performance/better cooling then consider a new cooler.

Thank you, I'll just test the cooler on some games when I get it, if the temps go beyond 80 I will probably get a better cooler.

Thank you once again.

Thank you, so it would be best if I just get a better cooler?

Even if you're overclocked to a point where the temps would be in the mid 90's in a stress test it won't get near that in games.

that's a good idea.
A 140mm AIO @ 900rpm keeps mine it check at 4.2+.
honestly if your going to get a cooler an AIO is way worth it. (if you don't like noise) they got 120mm evga coolers that go on sale for like 30 dollars.
