Overclocking to the maximum e6500

I just bought a e6500 and a p5k motherboard. i have a prolima mahalems, 2x2gb ddr800 and a lcdpower super silent 550 watts supply.

How far can i go i can´t seem to pass the 4 ghz mark. But the readings say that my cpu is cold.

You can push it as far as it will go.

Don't know who makes that PSU, but if you aren't getting good clean steady power that will hold you back.

Are your memory settings on Auto? If so, you are probably overclocking your memory and that is limiting your CPU overclock.

At stock settings, with a 266 MHz FSB, your memory clock should be 533 MHz. Download CPUZ and check your FSB:RAM ratio. It should be 1:1. Odds are that the second number is larger than the first. That means you are trying to run your memory faster than the FSB.

Fix that and you may be able to push your core freq higher.

I am not familiar with the Asus BIOS, but somewhere around the SPD values, there's an Auto setting that affects the frequency that memory runs.

OK. I got the picture links to work. You are OC'ing your memory. In the memory timing, change the "strapping" (I think Asus calls it) so your memory frequency is 726 MHz.

I´ve been messing around with the settings and was able to get these values...

Settings of the bios:
cpu ratio 11
fsb strap to north bridge 400
fsb frequency 375
cpu voltage 1.4625v
fsb termination voltage 1.20v

Results:

Can it go beyond this? It´s strange because the bios says that the cpu is 49 ºC.

Don't rely on idle BIOS temps. You need to measure your temps when the CPU is under heavy stress testing, such as with Prime95.

Unless I am mistaking, you have already exceeded the maximum safe voltage for the E6500.

That is the allowable VID range. Intel's max voltage is 1.45 volts:
