overclocking with a h97 motherboard

hi, i wan to ask if i can overclock a 15-4690k with msi pc mate h97, i read some online post saying that you can only overclock cpu with the z chipset and some other specific motherboard,

Almost all Intel chips can only be overclocked by Z series motherboards save the Pentium G3258.

You can OC it, but it wont be easy. h97 mobos weren't made for overclocking. You'll have to use software while the system is on to OC it. Thinking about that makes me uneasy. OC through bios is an option for z87 and z97 mobos.

If your budget allows it, I would invest in a Z97 board.

Like all the users above me, there is a reason the H97 is cheaper than the Z97. The Z series were built for overclocking. The H97's were not built for overclocking
