Do you guys generally leave your p.c. on or off? I use my gaming p.c., generally 1x a day for up to 1-4 hours depending on my schedule.

My concern is with all the expensive components, am I better to leave it on 24/7 as I use to with my old run of the mill p.c.! Or should I turn it Off, while away at work for up to 10 to 12 hours?

I know this is probably a Age Old question, but I had to ask. Tia...

Off. I already had one situation where my PC woke me up at 3 a.m. to install Windows updates. After that I told my PC that there are no roaches in the hard drive bays, and now it sleeps peacefully.

Thank you, for your reply...

Yea it is up to you really. On or Off doesn't matter. if you have a high end machine that sucks up a lot of power it might be better for your pocket to have it off when you aren't using it or at least go to sleep. My dad leaves his PC on 24/7 and it gets like 6 hours of use a day and my server is on 24/7 but that gets used randomly though out the day. My gaming rig is usually off only because why waste the power? I don't pay the bills my dad does so I like to keep it down as much as possible for him.

I usually leave my desktop on 24/7 due to the fact it's running as a Plex server as well. It's also nice that in the fact that when I first boot it I don't have to worry about spending 30 minutes or so grabbing program updates; like on my laptop all the time. The desktop is setup to reduce power when it is not being used by keeping CPU speeds down, down spinning the hard drive, etc. I do shutoff the monitor when it is not being used though.
