Well... I did manage to get an old P166 up to 333Mhz.. without a heatsink... had to use a cooling spray.. but it seems that I fried the processor...

But anyway.. I had another P166.. and I'm only getting it to a mere 250/266Mhz.. It's pretty stable with a decent heatsink... but could this be because it isn't cold enough?

Funny thing is that I didn't get that processor any faster with cooling spray either...

The motherboard i used was an old Microstar 5169

3Dfx will never die... just the staff of NVidia when I charge at 'em with a machinegun...

I'm probably going to regret this....but what is "cooling spray"??

PS...LIKE THE SIG!

Cooling spray is basically an aerosol can full of freezing cold gas stuff (dunno exactly whats in it), used in the electronics industry for fault finding- for eg if such & such a piece of equipment cust off after say 10 mins, spraying various components- transisters, fet's,regulators etc will help track down the problem if its heat related.
