Help me. My (human) memory is fading on what memory to buy:

If I want to buy SDRAM for my P2B's... am I correct that I need to
find 128mb sticks with 8 chips and 256mb chips with 16 chips ?
That is, a 256mb with 8 chips is not useable in these boards?

Thanks,

Correct, a 256MB dimm using a total of 8 drams will not work on your board.

But a 256MB dimm using a total of 16 drams won't work either - unless those
drams are 16Mx8 parts. And plenty of peeps have made that mistake.

www.crucial.com won't make that mistake. Pick the 256MB PC133 version listed
for your mainboard and you'll get a guaranteed-to-work-on-your-board-for-life
dimm...

Don't if this applies but running 3 64 meg pc100 dimm's on a P2B-F Each
dimm
has 8 memory chips on only one side and all memory is recognized.

Yes, you have to buy double-side memory which has on both sides chips, the
one side memory doesn't show full memory! (128MB one side memory on p2b
boards shows 64MB!)
I prefer 256 MB double-side Kingmax PC133 SDRAM or some other, the better
the stable!

You're correct, that is irrelevant to what *cannot* be done...

Here's a bit of info on some P2B ram

Apacer P/N: 71.84350.115
256MB unbuffered PC133 CL3

uses Infineon ram chips
worked for me with BX chipset motherboards
