My 2800+ recently fried itself (no overclocking involved), so while this is
being RMA'd I'm using my old P2L-M with 300MHz and 64mb RAM, but I'm looking
to expand this to 192mb.

On Ebay I've seen "N.E.C 128MB PC133 SD-RAM" going cheaply, is this
proprietry stuff, or will it work fine? It's single sided.

The Crucial site only lists two parts for your motherboard, and they
are both PC66. I don't know if there is some significance to that
or not, as I'm sure PC133 would be much easier to find. 128MB
is $63.

You also have to be careful of single sided versus double sided,
as maybe the 440LX cannot handle the addressing needed for
the single sided memory. Perhaps Googling on the topic will
turn up some answers.

If you look at this thread, some people claim they could only
use PC66, others have been more successful. (Click Complete Thread.)
I searched on "440LX 128MB".

I guess what you decide, depends on how much you like aggavation.

As long as you've got the latest or at least some not too dated BIOS,
I'd expect any 128 meg unbuffered SDRAM stick with 8 or 16 chips to work
just fine. Those with 4 chips will not work.
