I have just assembled my new system and I am having a problem.

I have an MSI P35-Neo2-FR with a Q6600 The Ram is Patriot PDC22G6400LL (2x1Gb kit) Psu Hiper type R 580W and a 6800GT.

When the system starts to boot it stops with a red, red, green, red led sequence. If I am reading this correct it appears to be a memory problem.

I have tried both dimms in every slot as a pair and as singular.

I have no other systems that have DDR2 (upgrading from a x2 3800+ 939) and no one with a DDR2 system that I can borrow Ram from.

I have tried on the bench with just power connectors for the board and graphics card plugged in and just a power switch.

I have treid resetting the CMOS.

Would you say its the board or the ram or something totaly different?

Be sure the MB speaker header is connected to a working speaker. Boot the system with NO RAM installed. If you get no beeps from the MB signifying there is no RAM in the system, you have a MB problem. Another solution would be to buy or borrow a different DIMM of DDR2 and try that. Try resetting the CMOS jumper. Instructions are in the MB manual.

Thanks for the reply, with speaker and no ram I get no bleeps.

I have rest the Cmos as noted in my original post.

I am trying to locate someone local to me that has some DDR2.

well after a 60 mile round drip i managed to borrow a 1Gb stick of 533 DDr2.

Installed it and got a boot!

Installed it with either of the patriot sticks boots.

installed either of the patriot sticks still no boot.

went back to the 533 and booted, set all memory timings to 200 and rebooted with just a patriot stick got it to boot!

at this point i checked and the bios version was 1.3, flashed to 1.6 and booted with 1 patriot stick booted!

checked timings booted at 800 :D

installed 2nd stick and its still running at 800.

So I am now a happy bunny, except the 2x60 mile roand trips to borrow the ddr!
