Going to build a new gaming machine and has been thinking of the following MSI Motherboards:
865PE-NEO2-FIS2R
or
865PE-NEO-L
What is your advice, which one to choose, best performnace, best BANG for the buck ?

Here,s what I like to put in the machine (Comments and suggestions are as always VERY welcome):

MSI Motherboard
2.8 GHz 800FSB P4 (best for OC according to Tom's)
512MB RAM (333 or 400) What's your recommendation?
120 GB Maxtor, 8MB, SATA or IDE, Whats your recommendation?
ATI 9700 PRO Graphics card, this beuaty I allready have!
ASUS DVD/Rom Black, to go with a Chieftech Matrix midi tower.
Soundcard onboard or cheap SB, half deaf anyway ;-)

Thanx in advance. God I do like this forum!

I don't see how. I see an overclocked MSI board loosing benchmarks to stock clocked Abit and Asus boards. And if you really want to overclock, you can do it manually on an Abit or Asus board.

Mmm been lookin' some more... First hand Impression of the latest MSI boards are very nice, but /(again) when going gets tough! found that the Asus P4P800 does the job quite well too (have been using Asus since the 100Mhz days)
Whats your opinion on the Asus P4P800 with Intel 865PE chipset ?

I'm cool with ASUS esp the new board

P4C800-E Deluxe which included Gigabit LAN with CSA interface :)

now was the MSI mobo that was tested in the newest article actually the "loaded" MS-6728 865PE Neo2-FIS2R or the Neo2-S?
