Hi,

I apologise if this has been asked before. I have my system with P4P800 E
Deluxe MB and running a single SATA HD. I have connected it to SATA 1 and
in the BIOS disbled the PROMISE controller and set the IDE config to
enhanced and non RAID. I then installed windows XP pressed F6 when asked for
the 3rd party drivers placed the created Promise sata drivers from the CD
ROM. All is well.

I am now building a second system same specs and the above process is not
working. I have experimented and when enabling the Promise controller the HD
is recognised and I can install windows. I am confused as to why one system
is running with no promise controller enabled after installing promise
drivers and the other one has to have the promise controller enabled. I do
not want an array config.

If any one has experience with this board please any help appreciated.

Regards Alan.

Probably on the 1st machine you hooked the SATA HD to the IDE-SATA
intel controller (and there was no need to install the Promise
drivers), on the 2nd machine you hooked the HD to the Promise SATA
port (different controller). Look at the manual, this mobo has
different SATA controllers. And last look at control
Panel/system/hardware/devices and choose look at the devices by
connection.

Hi,

Yep OMaurizo on the ball, I looked again at the board and had indeed
conected the second board to the Promise SATA connector. So much for
building a system when you are tired.

Many thanks for your posts.

Alan.
