Well i built a system for my freind useing parts i had around.I gave him a p4s8x a 512 stick of pc2700 p4 2.4b,and he bought my 9500 pro and the rest.And now hes getting crashes when playing battle field veitam.I used cpuz and sandra to confrim the agp speed is running at 1x he gets 3500 in 3dmark 03.I've got it to run some what stable by turning smartgart off.Now ive tried everything i can think of to stop it from crashing.Ive underclocked truned up voltages falsh bois reinstalled everything with latest drivers and it still crash.Now i know the p4s8x is a peice of crap.But he doesn't have the money for a new mobo right now and just spent alot on a system that isnt stable.Can any one think of any thing i could try to get this working.And also plz recomend a cheap good p4b mobo.Thanks

I use an msi 655 max. Two venders on pricewatch have them for $47 shipped. Or you can try the msi pt880 neo lsr with via chipset and 800 fsb support ($62 newegg). What power supply does he use? Instability can also be caused by a weak ps.

Raidmax is NOT known for high quality power supplies. So you may very well be wrong.

They use the same standard power supply for all of their cases. It only puts out 13a on the 12v rail, but that should be enough for what he's got in there.

[Crashman]

Yes, it is a terrible board! But Asus also made the P4S533, which was a GOOD board. What happened is they screwed up the redesign of the memory traces on the P4S8X. Maybe you'll find a sucker to swap the P4S533 for that garbage.
