SilentBob66 :
I swapped the power supply out and still have problems.
The case came with an Antec 430W Neo HE
I swapped an Antec 350W Smartpower from my old machine.
The CPU temps are normally in the 32-36º with no load. Never seen the CPU temp above 50º.
The mother board temps are usually about 30-34º
Like I said my friend built the same machine with same memory and is working fine.
Hi silentbob
I had a similar problem with my setup - very quick fix, its a setting in your bios.
I have a q6600 2.40 , 4gb ddr2 667
i could install xp, but not vista / 7, would bsod all the time, i had to lower my FSB of my CPU until vista was installed, i then figuerd it out, enable thermal support in your bios, enable C1E enhanced support (if your cpu supports this)
then finally, look for the ai overclocking menu, go into there and set that to auto. or none... (id say set it to none for now) reboot a couple of times to see if the bios has set the settings and is using them, check temps now in bios and it should not exceed 45 - 50 degress, if it hits 65 in the bios then it will cut power off
took me a week of messing about with this boards settings until it was stable, main reason it took me that long is becuase i didnt do the build, it was built a year ago then i purchased it off my uncle as he has moved to mac, reason i didnt have a pc before was becuase it got in the way of the misses lol, well she's long gone and im back on the scene, couldnt afford a build from scratch so bought this one and when ran into problems, i re-built it and sorted my issues out, not bad to say ive been out of the game for 3 - 4yrs.
let me know how you got on
