P5Q PRO issues.

Ughhh So I'm having some problems with my Asus P5Q PRO motherboard , Now first of all I'm having alot of computer freezes there doesnt seem to be a pattern , I'm not sure if there is anything wrong with Hardware , But I've tried re-installing alot of software and this doesnt seem to change anything , Now I thought I would try to update my bios by using the file "Afudos BIOS update tool V2.36 " from the Asus website , Now all it does is open the command prompt and closes it again , Doesnt seem to tell me if its done anything at all.

Now back onto this freezing issue , I've made sure there are no viruses or anything like that I just dont know what to do next , I was hoping I wouldnt have to re-format as I've only just recovered from a previous one.

Are there are tools out there to help me diagnose if there is anything wrong in my system ?

I cant really take every individual part of my computer and test them all.

I'm just really lost on what to do At the moment as I dont want to do a Re-format to find out it didnt do anything.

Read the manual and do the Crash Free Bios 3 method. You'll need another computer the put the files onto a USB drive but that should square away your motherboard to default settings and you can start from there. If you're lucky you won't have to reformat and reinstall the OS. It's happened to me and was forced to discover the crash free BIOS method.

the afudos utility is a DOS base utility and works in DOS. To update the bios, u should get the latest bios version on the website(which is v.2002), save onto usb stick and enter EZFLASH utility in bios. This is easy and safest way to flash the bios. refer to manual, if you are having trouble. i don't know if that will resolve your issues though. Try running memtest to rule out the memory being defective.

Ok I updated my bios , didnt change anything.

I'm actually thinking it might be the CPU as I took some temperature readings for the 4 cores and i got ;

1 = 37
2 = 30
3 = 46
4 = 46

(All in degrees celcius oC)

I'm only using a standard heatsink for now , Any other suggestions than "Buy a better one" (Well you could give me some options)

Just still open to other faults for now.....

About to do a Hard disk test and a memory diagnostic tool.

I initially had problems with my P5Q pro and found it was the Asus EPU-6 engine. As soon as I stopped it from running on start up my system became reliable and stable, very stable.
