I recently purchased some ram to upgrade from 4gb to 8gb. I purchased this last week:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/HyperX-FURY-1866MHz-Memory-Module/dp/B00J8E91H2/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1454338683&sr=8-6&keywords=8gb+ram+ddr3

But when I put the ram in, the PC would just freeze at the motherboard start up screen. It wouldn't go any further. I thought it was faulty ram, because when I put in the old ram it worked fine. Even one 4gb stick of new ram would cause the PC to freeze before I even have a chance to enter the bios. So I returned the ram and purchased a different brand. I bought this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9-Vengeance-Performance-Desktop/dp/B004CRSM4I/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1454338683&sr=8-4&keywords=8gb+ram+ddr3

It arrived today, and I can't get it to work. I am wondering whether my cpu or motherboard is somehow not compatible. I tried it multiple times, until I put all 4 sticks of ram in, as just one last desperate attempt. It worked but this error message began to show: "irql_not_less_or_equal" I also got this error message too: "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED"

Don't know what to do. I am now thinking that perhaps my pc can't handle 1600mhz ram. Is this correct? What kind of ram should I get? I am tired of returning things to amazon, and constantly opening up my pc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Specs:
CPU: Intel i5 650
Mobo: Asus P7P55D-E LX
GFXCard: Radeon HD 7770
OS: Windows 10 64bit

I just tried that now, and once again it froze here. The keyboard is unresponsive and I am forced to switch it off from the powerswitch:

Tested the slots, and then tested again having my old ram in there too, and once again it loaded but gave me an error when windows starts up:

The PC works with the old ram, it doesn't get any errors or any problems. The PC only has problems when the new ram is installed. It doesn't even start with the new RAM on its own, but when I combine both old and new RAM I get those error messages. Would windows repair or safemode have any impact on the new ram compatibility issue?

I am wondering now whether this rig can even handle anything more than 1333mhz in ram. As the new ram is 1600mhz. My bios also seems to suggest that it doesn't do anything more than that. Could this be causing the issue?

"Tested the slots, and then tested again having my old ram in there too, and once again it loaded but gave me an error when windows starts up:"

I thought that you're getting the errors with the old RAMs.

The frequency is not the issue, but the chips they're using (high density).
Have you tried updating the board's BIOS?

Sorry I should have been more clear about the errors, just to clarify they only occur when I mixed old and new ram.

Yes updating bios was one of the first things I tried. I updated it to the latest bios version today.

I'm current using ocz ddr3, 2sticks of 2gb.

What is the possibility that both the hyperfuryx that I first purchased from amazon, and the vengeance corsair are all faulty, that 4 sticks of ram are faulty.

I will eventually return them if I don't find a solution, but I am worried that I will return them, buy more ram, and the problem happens again for a third time.

Not sure, just looking through everything. I'm trying to find the best performance for the price. Trying to find them as cheap and as cool looking as the ones I originally bought off amazon.

You can go to a DRAM manufacturer's web site and many allorw you to check for DRAM comparable to your mobo - I normally suggest the NT series as I've been using them for older 775, 1156 and 1366 rigs for the last few years as the supplies of low density based DRAM is drying up

Yep you guys were right. Using some Crucial low density ram, and it works perfectly fine. Turns out it was the high density chips causing the problem. Glad there are forums like this around, don't know how long it would have taken me to figure this out. Most friends had no clue about it.
