Pacific Fighters: Good game, but it's got some major probl..

First let me state that I really like this game and I plan on continuing to
play it. But it has some serious problems that need to be addressed by the
developers.

1. While flying Beaufighters and A20's over New Guinea: The AI causes at
least one, and sometimes all of your wing mates to slam into the side of a
mountain on almost every mission.
2. After learning of the Mountain of Death, I would turn off the auto-pilot
and increase altitude when approaching the "Mountain of Death". But I'm not
out of the woods yet. When I turn on the auto-pilot, the planes in my flight
start weaving back and forth resulting in a mid-air collision almost every
time.
3. On several fighter missions, I noticed the enemy planes flying out of the
combat area when my flight approached. This resulted in my flight returning
to base without encountering the enemy.
4. It seems that the controls need to be reset every time you make a new
pilot. Some key functions are not set as a default. If your pilot takes off
from an aircraft carrier, make sure you set the Chokes, Lower Wings, and
Tail Hook keys.
5. When playing an American pilot in a dive bomber, none of my keys worked.
I couldn't start the engine, lower flaps, etc.

Ubisoft......good game folks. I think this game has the potential to be a
legendary game.......Please fix these glaring problems.

I like it also but you would think that after selling the same game 3 times
they could get it right already ;-)

Don't give up Brendan! Most of us flying PF+IL2+Aces have resolved your
problems with a little experience and knowledge. Most of us play online or
create our own missions with the sim's excellent "Full Mission Builder". The
more you learn about this relatively "advanced" simulation, the more you
will like it. It sounds to me like you may be playing the Sims Campaign
mode, and some of the settings may be limiting your play. PF has some
software bugs but they are being worked by the developers, and PF is still
the best all around WWII combat sim on the market.

The AI in this game are dumber than a sack of wet hair. It won't get fixed
anytime soon, either. I have not personally run into the mountain-crash
problem, but then again, most of my flying is on the eastern front. You
might post over at SIMHQ.com for some more detailed answers to this problem.

This is true. You need to copy over the file
Users\<pilot_name>\settings.ini to the new folder created when you reated
your new pilot.

Not sure about this one. Again, a post to SimHQ might help.

Maybe BoB will be the answer to all of our prayers...(yeah right).

Thanks Wayno.

I must give the Devil his due. :) After installing patch 3.3->3.4, most of
the problems I mentioned above were solved. <bowing towards the developers>
Thank you all for your unwavering support. I take back what I said earlier:
This is a GREAT game. A little quirky, and confusing at times, but over all,
a magnificent accomplishment. After installing FB+AEP+PF, I have the
complete flightsimulator junkie's dream. Thanks again to all those who put
in the long hours to make this game.

Not going to happen. We don't even have one of the bombers that is
advertised on the box yet. There are a few planes being made by third
parties but after that 1C will concentrate on their BOB project and FB /PF
will start to die a slow death. I imagine that the next alleged BIG patch
will be the last one.

Just to be a little "nit picky", the war was over late August 1945, so
what's the point of addon of all those planes. Most of us out there
were clamoring to come home for discharge by late '45 and early '46.
I personally watched with envy as several aircraft carriers converted
to troop carriers left Pearl Harbor for stateside, while those of us
who had too little points for discharge, stood on the pier and cried!
