packet loss and slow download speed, can't perfect my router's settings

laptop: Asus k550ldv xx902h
i7 4510u, 8gb ram, 1tb hdd, geforce 820m 2gb, windows 10 home 64 bit
ISP: TE-Data
Connection type: DSL
Number of devices connected: 6
So I want to optimize my router so that I don't get packet loss which I currently have a lot of;my internet connection speed is a mere 4mbps. I have been messing around a lot with the settings and I keep getting so close to making it GREAT but I never got to that point, so I was wondering if anyone could help me; here are a some of the settings which I think are important/related and need to change:

I just want a stable connection with minimum packet loss and around the 4mbps (according to testmy.net, which is possible btw)

How do you know you get packet loss.

You need to test with a wired connection to make sure you have no issues with your internet connection. You have to be very careful how you test, you will always get loss as you approach your internet connection speed. The data rate is a average rate and it sends in burst so the closer you get to your 4m internet the more likely the burst rate will exceed the speed even though the average rate is below.

Now if this only happens on wireless then you have very few options. You can try different radio channels but you have few option on your router. Channels 1,6,11 are best to try. Maybe a dual band router might help because you can use the 5g channels. This used to help because there are so many channels. What has happened though is you likely have a rich neighbor who has bought one of those fancy tri-band routers. That router by itself can use almost all the radio bandwidth. If you have 2 neighbors doing that you pretty much guarantee there is no un corrupted radio channels you can use.

alright I will always get packet loss and not have a perfect connection but still, to what should I change these settings for the best performance?

You only pretty much have 2 things you can change. The channel number and you really only have the 3 choices I listed and the channel width which you already have set to 20mhz. Problem is the interference changes constantly based on when other people choose to use their WiFi. Now with the fancy cars with wifi hotspot someone just driving past your house can cause interference.
