Hello all.

I just signed up and this is my first post. I am seeking advice. I just bought all the parts I need to build a gaming system and it has a black and red color scheme. (I know original 😛 ) Unfortunately, my computer monitor is held up by a silver stand.

Is there any recommend type of paint or way of going about painting the stand so it will match the rest of my monitor as closely as possible and not damage it?

Below is a link to the monitor I have. Thank you all! :)

If you are just going to paint the stand, I would remove it from the monitor first. You need to get some fine grit sandpaper (300 grit first pass, 600 grit for the second pass) and give it a light sanding to "rough up" the surface so that the paint will stick. You don't want to sand too much off.

Next, I would use a spray paint and paint the stand - use adequate ventilation (preferably outside), then allow it to dry overnight. Since the stand will be hidden behind the monitor, I would suggest using a small clamp to secure the stand where it attaches to the monitor.

Here is an article for painting a PC: http://www.modders-inc.com/so-you-want-to-paint-your-computer-case-a-painting-guide/

It would be a good reference.
