[SOLVED] Painting PCI slot covers on Corsair 280x case

Hi all,
I have a Corsair 280x case and I want to spray paint the PCI slot covers from black to white. I don't really have any experience painting so what kind of spray paint do I need? Do I need a primer?

They're already painted, so just scuff up the existing paint a bit with some sandpaper and spray over it. They won't be subject to much/any physical abuse.

That's what he's saying.
A light touch of sandpaper to rough up the surface, and spray over it with the color you want.
No primer needed.

What spray paint would you recommend since it could get somewhat warm inside the case?

The sandpaper is to rough up the surface, for better adhesion for the new paint.

What paint to use? Depends where you're buying it.
Automotive spray paint would work well.
Or Rustoleum.
(sandpaper section is probably next to the paint section, if you're actually going to the store)

You want it to be able to stick. Really should just spend the five extra minutes to do it right.

What grit and to what extent should I sand it down to?

200 grit.

Your computer case (or GPU in your other thread) doesn't get hot enough to worry about what spray paint you use. All my "standard" grade cans say max temp of 93C and I'm sure they're fine a bit hotter than that also.

How should I sand it down? Until the black paint is gone or until most of the surface is really rough?

You're not stripping it down to bare metal. It's called "roughing the surface". You're bonding your paint to the paint that's already bonded to the metal.
