What do you mean better? Like a higher quality lens? I don't think it would improve image quality much or anything. Lenses are very, very expensive.

Sure, but he can easily add a teleconverter to it if that is what he was looking for.

SLR refers to film, we have been using DSLR for quite some time now. And while not a DSLR, and not conforming to any interchangable lense system - doesn't mean he is completely out of options.

If an increased focal length was what he was after - it is still possible.
