Paper P4 system. Advice on parts plase :)

Im building a new system (on paper) ive research as best i can and come to this spec.

i read somewhere that i could get the Intel BOXD865GLCL board to clock at the 875 version with a bios update. Also something about getting the PAT on aswell.

Also, i figured that the 2.4 could be overclocked a fair bit, so ive added 4 case fans and a nice coolmaster CPU fan.

Any advice on dual channel ddr, the board say support for dual channel ddr 400. Does that mean i would need to get some 400/PC3200 sticks on will the PC2700 still take advantage of that?

(EDIT/ADD) The ebuyer 400w PSU, its had good reviews and seems to be powerfull enough and im not overly fussed about the noise. If it really is cack can any one recomend a cheap alternative.

Any other advice is also welcome.

Go with pc3200 or pc3500. Intel boards are pretty stable, but usually have no settings for overclocking. The abit is7 or asus p4p800 would be better choices for overclocking. I would do some more research on that power supply, and see who makes it. Check out the power supply reviews in this forum and anandtech, and see if any listed are sold in your area.

Where are you from, the UK? These prices look too irresistable to be true if these are U.S. market values, especialyl that Radeon 9800 for $184. If those cards were that cheap in the U.S. , man oh man!

So far, it looks like you have put together a great system.

My OS features preemptive multitasking, a fully interactive command line, & support for 640K of RAM!

Sounds like you want to OC your Cpu? I have 2.4C OC to 3.0 Abit IS7 Mobo HyperX PC 3500 2 x 512.

diff MB, ebuyer dont sell the abit MB 🙁
and ill change the PC2700 to PC3200 from crucial, again Ebuyer dont seemt o sell these, so ill get directly from cricual.

theya ll sound pricy, i will have to see how much more they are, if its too much more i will have to wait and run as i am untill i can afford better memory.

thanks again for the info, i think ill just wait a bit longer see how prices change over next couple of weeks. (ok you might have guessed im building this PC for HL2 😛, currently running an 800 Athlon and voodoo3 2000, not up to par.)

hehe, exactly why i posted it on here. SO i wouldnt buy something stupid and end up crashing/blowing something up.

looking into PSU at the mo,. probably going for an antec 400watt jobby
