I have this same post in another forum but not getting much needed help so i think i should try here...this is what i posted...one person replied...and i replied back
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have Windows XP Pro and i am using Partition Magin 7.0
I am trying to merge 3 partitions(2 with windows xp partition) . Two of the three were FAT32 so i made them NFTS because you cant merge two different types of partitons.
Windows XP (NFTS) - Merging
Windows 98SE (FAT32)
Downloads (FAT32)
Games + Mp3s (FAT32 converted to NFTS) - Merging
Computer(FAT32 converted to NFTS) - Merging
now when i go to the merge option the only two disks that it gives me options for are the Windows 98SE and the Downloads...before it gave me all except for Windows XP
i dont understand how i am supposed to merge these?
Can anyone help?
THANKS

Two questions: How large are your partitions? Are the Games & Compuer partitions one or two NTFS partitions now?
I haven't tried your particular setup or PM 7.0 but here are a couple of shots in the dark regardless:
1) The one NTFS partition you're trying to create will push the Win98 Partition out of the intial 8 GB address range. Something of a no-no.
2) It doesn't like moving the NTFS parition through the FAT32 one.
3) You used the Windows XP upgrade and it did something funny with the MBR like the Inquirer reported here. If you can resize partitions no problem from PM, you should be able to rule this one out.
Good luck.

Woah a lot of info there...thanks
lemme answer now
1) What do you mean it will push it out of range?
2) My partitions show like this : NFTS(winxp) - FAT32(Win98) - FAT32(Downloads) - NFTS(Games+Mp3s) - NFTS(Computer)
is this order preventing it?
3) I update a lot...it wont let me resize my Win XP 1960 meg partiton (only one that i cant resize)
These are the sizes of my partitons:
WINXP C: 2 gigs
Win98 G: 2 gigs
Downloads D: 7 gigs
Games + Mp3s E: 9.3 gigs
Computer F: 6.8 gigs
Win xp only has around 150 megs free = dangerously low; thats why i need to merge quickly + i made the dumb mistake of making so many partitions
The Games and Computer are 2 different partitons that i cant merge even though they are next to each other
Do you think i should make all partitions FAT32 then merge Winxp + games + computer and then make that one partiton NFTS or will that be unstable or ruin something or just not work?
THANKS

End of all three post...i hope someone can help...thanks
