Hi all,

I am having a problem with windows not recognising the size of my hard drive. I installed windows for the first time and it was recognising the 400GB size. I ran into a (unrelated) problem and had to reinstall windows. however, it now says the hard drive is only 137 GB and there dont appear to be any other partitions. But my bios still shows 400GB. i am not too familiar with the command language but ive been told to use Fdisk - is this right? how would i use it to solve this problem. any ideas?

hi.
the command fdisk is used to format the disc, and is used during the setup of
windows 98.
you can always if you do not have importat files to make a new install of the windows.
what os are you using?
u can use partition magic to check out your hard drive.

fdisk will not work with NTFS, it's only for FAT32 (which i hope you're not using on an xp system)

go to start > run > diskmgmt.msc
look for disk0 and see the total amount of space, i think maybe 1 of your partitions got wiped and it was never recreated after the setup when you did the repair

otherwise you might be having an issue with your file system table
