partitioned hard drive

Hey there, Bill and welcome to the community! :)

If you want to repartition and reformat the drive, you can do that via Disk Management, but note that you should backup any important data before you do that, because it's a data destructive process. Here's a tutorial on how to do it: How to partition and format a hard drive on Windows and Mac OSX. Note that if you want to delete the partitions in order for the drive to be at the state that it has nothing on it and follow the tutorial afterwards, all you have to do is open Disk Management, click with the right-mouse button on each partition of the drive you wish to reformat and select "delete volume".

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

This plus if it is the Boot drive which has the OS in it, you'll need to do it when installing the OS using an installation media.
