HI there.

I am looking to build a very basic gaming PC for my son, who really wants to play BeamnG.

The graphic settlings do not need to be on high, just as long as the game is playable (so am going with AMD integrated graphics).

It has been a long time since I have built a PC, so am not really up-to-date with the latest components.

I have a case and a 350w Gold PSU.

I was thinking of going with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G - is that a good idea?

Any advice on what motherboard and RAM would be much appreciated (I have read that APU graphics can be a bit picky about the type of RAM they use).

I would do something like this.
PCPartPicker Part List

Motherboard: MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard (£109.94 @ Box Limited)
Memory: Kingston FURY Beast 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL17 Memory (£39.99 @ AWD-IT)
Total: £149.93
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

The 5600G or 5700G have a good iGPU. They can probably run that game pretty well. They also have enough grunt that you can add a dGPU later if you want.

These are the recommended specks for 1080p

The 970 video card is over 100% better than the performance of the 5600G built in graphics.

The OP doesn't care if the game is run at high settings, just as long as it is playable. To me that means he would be fine with 720p which has much lower GPU requirements.
  • GPU: Radeon HD 7750 / Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti

What I listed was for normal settings not ultra.
It does say lowest settings for the 550ti @ 720p so might get mid setting @ 720p with the V11 graphics.

I listed that just so he would know, of course he could always upgrade in the future.

Looks like the 5700G will get you like RX550 or so performance and the 5600G is only slightly slower.
