Password Bypass

I was given a computer by my cousin, who got it from someone else. I turn it on and get a black screen and asks for a password,wich i have no clue what it could be. Is there a way to bypass this.

It's probably a BIOS password. Try unplugging the power cord and removing the BIOS battery for a while.
