Paying for 100Mbps and i get 30 mbps !

Hello so recently i upgraded my internet package to 100mbps
however when i run the speed test it says that i have only 30 - 35 mbps

NOTE : i have my router downstairs connected via an Ethernet cable to my extender and another Ethernet cable coming out from the extender to my pc

Help is always appreciated

Hi STcreature,

First thing I would do is call your ISP and make sure they are supplying the correct signal to your home. Sometimes after upgrading the technical dept. doesn't always get the memo.

What is the model of the router?

This has happened before, it might not be your problem, but worth checking on.

If it's a cable modem, make sure it's a DOCSIS 3 modem as DOCSIS 2 can only get to ~ 30 mbps. If you purchased the modem yourself, make sure it's on your ISP's approved list.
