I have a gaming pc connected to my receiver, which is then connected to my TV. I use the Receiver to get 5.1 audio.
GPU: Radeon R9 290
OS: Windows 10
Receiver: Yamaha RX-V465
TV: Vizio E400i-b2
Currently, my default audio device is listed as the TV, but I am able to get pure 5.1 out of the GPU and into the receiver, and when that happens, everything is perfect.
The problem I'm having is that intermittently, in particular when I change sources on the receiver to another source (my chromecast, etc.) then go back to the PC, there is no audio. The PC doesn't show anything on the surface that would make it seem the PC knows something wrong (i.e. there isn't a 'no audio' notification or anything. There might be markers deeper in the audio settings).
I think this is a handshake issue, but I have no idea how to fix this.
I found some articles on the subject, but they reference when the pc is in sleep and include video dropouts. My PC is not currently set to sleep, and I have had no real issues with video (there is occasional screen distortion, but that goes away when I swap sources on the receiver)
Does anyone know how to fix the audio issue?
Thanks.
