Hello all,
I have recently been having issues with my PC and initially thought my graphics card was the problem. This was because my little GT 620 worked with the machine while my GTX 980 Ti ended up failing and giving no output half the time. I got the GTX 980 Ti to work most of the time by reinstalling windows and resetting everything on my motherboard. I then did stress tests on my machine, and my computer failed them.
The first was on Time Spy from 3D Mark. It went black, but still gave the frame rate counter at the bottom and gave small blips of the trial with artifacts everywhere. The strangest things was the physics test. The CPU went under load instead of the graphics card and the test went perfectly in every way. I could see everything on screen in full detail. It then went black again when the GPU was at high usage. I then did a CPU diagnostic and found that the IMC (integrated memory controller) was failing the test. I had no idea as to why and am still looking for the answer, because it passes all the other tests and seems to be working. My PSU is fine, I used multiple. I just don't know what the problem was. If it is of any assistance, my M.2 samsung 950 pro also stopped being detected by the BIOS, even though my computer would still boot to windows.
The strangest thing was that I would log in and then the computer would crash. That has stopped since I reinstalled it on my SSD. My question is what is the component that is causing my problem? Is it my CPU? I had heard that PCIe lane issues come from that, but then why does it work for my GT 620? Is it because it is PCIe 2.0? Or is it some other component? Any help is appreciated!
