PC boot issues with gpu

My computer I just built will not go to bios when the graphics card is installed, it works with out it, the mobo is gigabyte z97x UD5H BK, the graphics card is a gtx 980ti

Hey there,

With your gpu unplugged, go into the bios settings and look for the display adapter or PCI option
Change this to pci-e and save the settings

Install the GPU in the pc and power it on, should work

It was already set to pci-e and the full specs are i5-4690k CPU 16 gigs of ram and rm850 powersuply

Are you plugging the video cable into the graphics card port and not the motherboard? Is the power cable for the 980Ti plugged in? Is it fully secured into the PCIex16 slot?

Everything is securely in and the video cable is connected to the motherboard

Connect your monitor to your "onboard" gpu with the GPU still in

You should now have a display on your monitor and try installing the drivers from the manufacturers site from there

No wonder why it's not working. You have to connect it to the GPU, not the motherboard when a GPU is in.

Drivers should have nothing to do with it, as they are Windows specific. He cannot even get a video output or get into the BIOS.

What specific 980Ti is it? Does your computer receive any video output, or is it a "no signal" situation?

But anyways I fixed it, one of the cables was broken so I replaced it, thanks for the responses

I am assuming you are referring to the VGA power cable, and you swapped it with another one on your fully modular power supply, correct?
