This is my first time building a pc. I watched a bunch of youtube videos and it all looked pretty straightforward but I guess I was wrong.

Here is the list of my parts:

-Intel Core i5-7600 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
-ASRock H170A-X1/3.1 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
-Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory
-Seagate FireCuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive
-EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB SC Gaming ACX 3.0 Video Card
-NZXT S340 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case
-EVGA SuperNOVA G2 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

So first off when I turn it on it goes on for ~2 seconds then turns off then turns back on and stays on. I did some reasearch and apparently this is OK?

Initially I connected the GPU with the monitor via HDMI and didn't get anything. Then I looked some similar posts and tried the following after connecting DVI cable to motherboard:

- Unplug SSHD. Boot pc
- Unplug GPU. Boot pc
- Unplug 1 RAM. Boot pc
- Unplug second RAM. Boot pc
- Connect 1 RAM in a different slot. Boot pc
- Reset CMOS

None of these worked.

I followed the steps in this post carefully but I dont have a case speaker so I skipped those steps.

After all that I called ASRock Technical support and they just told me they will send me a new BIOS chip without really giving me an explanation so im not totally convinced.

Any help is greatly appreciated,
Thank you,

Yes, I just ordered one online. In the meantime is there anything else I can do for diagnosis?

OH I GET IT. So my current BIOS does not recognize this CPU so I need to either
-use an older CPU to boot up the pc, download an updated one and install it on the BIOS like you mentioned.
OR
-wait for the updated BIOS they are going to send me and just switch them out.

right?
