Hi,

I have been playing games a lot recently and was looking to invest my money in a good/worth the price custom built pc as it seems to be better doing and funner. Also this means the possibility of customization and removal of certain parts in the future. I am not very experienced in this sector and require assistance and suggestions. I have about 900euro/ $1,200/750pounds to spend. I do not mind whether it slightly exceeds my money limit, I am looking for the best build I can get with that money NOT including any monitors/peripherals .etc. I have looked at PCPartPicker and do not have much of a clue where to start, I've looked at videos and have the general idea of what I need - I would prefer Nvidia over ASD. Whatever suggestions and must haves will be a great help! I am not sure what the average price for each component should be and how to balance everything out. Not to forget, I do little work, only microsoft word .etc. I will also be watching bluray films, at the moment I have a DVD drive to use and plan to buy a bluray drive in the future, I don't mind whether it is included in the overall build for the moment. At the moment I play Rust, DayZ, Metro, Bioshock, Borderlands, Skyrim and a whole list of similar games quite similar. I will also be looking to keeping this for 2 years or more and be playing games such Titanfall and possibly other mainstream games.

if you can stretch the budget a little bit, i'd go with this build:

it has an i5 processor (one of the best for gaming), a 780(also one of the best for gaming), the corsair case, a highly rated psu, an ssd for your operating system and programs and your favorite games, and a hard disc drive for everything else. where i am it comes into $1250, which is a little more than you wanted

i can probably make it a little less expensive if you want, without sacrificing much gaming performance
Hey guys, been awhile :) Anyway I got the motherboard and processor off the guy! It is a intel i7-4770K processor and Intel DZ87KLT-7K motherboard it's awesome I got it for free! I'm waiting for the razer nzxt h440 to come out and they said late July and it's already August... :/ So yeah I'm going to order that as soon as it comes out if I can! Hopefully shipping isn't too much and stuff. Anyway I think this motherboard looks awesome and hopefully is very good, I know the processor is and will match my gtx 780 very well!

sorry, i've been out at camp for marching band the past week. the 4770k is a great processor. once you get the h440 you can just move everything over.

for the cooling, youve listed both your options. either closed loop cooling or air cooling. with the big case temps will be down too.

an inexpensive cooler that performs well is the coolermaster hyper 212 evo. an expensive air cooler is the noctua nh-d14 or something like that. its massive. good liquid cooling loops are the ones from earlier, the h100i, kraken coolers, etc. corsair, coolermaster, and nzxt are the popular ones

No problem! And I've ordered the Nxt h440 white/black and the Corsair H60 2013 edition AIO liquid cooling for the 4770k. I'm doing research on the motherboard but I guess it's decent, I'm probably going to overclock the cpu otherwise I won't be using it to its full potential. I would have gone with a 240mm AIO liquid cooler like the H100i I really like that but I couldn't afford it for the moment. I did look into air cooling and the Cooler master hyper 212 evo but decided against it due to looks and I did not like the silver (That's just me 😛). So after reseach I decided to choose the Corsair H60 2013 edition as it had good reviews and was a good price and will look nice (Rhyme not intended xD).

Yeah I'll see what I can do, might try passing it on to my brother or selling it but that's unlikely. Anyway now I'm just waiting for the Nzxt h440 white/black and Corsair H60 to arrive and I'll get it all installed, don't think I will overclock because it shouldn't really make a difference with gaming from what I've read. But I can't wait to get it all set up! :)

Hi, my case came and the corsair H60 2013 edition. I've installed everything with the new motherboard and i7 4770k cpu. I just played a quick game to test the temps and found my cpu was on 34-39degrees idle and max 79degrees in game, whereas the gpu is 28degrees idle and max 71degrees. I checked in the bios and the i7 4770k was at 3.9GHz already and I believe the stock GHz is 3.5? So I assume it was OC'd when the guy was given it. Also is 79 degrees max ok for i7 4770k running at 3.9 Ghz? Oh and I have a Corsair SP120 mounted on the radiator and attached to the motherboard but In the bios I couldn't see any details on that fan, the rest of the fans are running full speed (3xNzxt 120 fans in the front & 3xCorsair SP120 at the top) they are all connected to this fan splitter at the back of the case. Should I have the fan mounted on the radiator also running at full speed? Oh and I will need some good programs to test the cpu temps to see whether the H60 is cooling it and I am getting good enough temps.

i suggest connecting the pump to the psu if you can, so it will always be running at full speed, and connecting the corsair fan to the cpu fan header.

70 degrees is fine but its close to the tcase. id try to bring it down a little more. try what i said above and see if it makes a difference. the 3.9ghz is the processor turbo-boosting when it can. its like an automatic overclock when theres enough thermal room. 4770ks always run a bit hot. you should be fine with the h60 though. your gpu temps are much better :)

you can use coretemp, hwmonitor, and i think msi afterburner has a cpu chart now too.

overall, your temps are bit on the warm side, but still safe and you should have no problems.

Ok I'll do that as soon a possible and let you know whether it works. Oh and what is the Tcase? Also you said 70 degrees fine, do you mean in the 70's? Because mine went max 79 degrees in game and when I used MSI kombustor and did a cpu burner a couple of cores were at 100 and other in mid 90's. Im not striving for best temperatures just ones in the safe range when gaming:) hopefully switching the pump and fan connections should help.

I switched around the connections. Not sure if it changed a lot but a few degrees. I ran the MSI kombustor cpu burner again and 2 cores were at 100 degrees Celcius and 2 others at 96 and 97 and then 1 at 90. I also ran a GPU burner (furry donut) and the max temperature was 68 degrees celcius!! That's great temps for my gpu compared to before! Whereas the cpu I assume is within a reasonable temperature range just for gaming it doesn't look too bad. At idle it was arund 33 degrees celcius.

UPDATE: I ran battlefield 4 on ultra and for the gpu it was no problem constast 80fps and above 73 degrees celcius max. But for the cpu, hmm it went up to same temperatures as the MSI kombustor cpu burner, in the 90's degrees celcius range... Surely that isn't right? I think it's getting a lot of the heat coming from the gpu right under but even then it shouldnt be so hot! This is with the pum connected to the fan splitter at the back connected to the psu and the radiator fan connected to the cpu connector on the motherboard.

thats wierd, you should be getting about 80 degrees max load, i would think. the only thing i can think of is try reseating the cooler. also, can you hear the pump running? unplug all of the fans from the cable splitter, and take you side door off. if the cpu temps drop, it might be from the pump not running fast enough

Yep I found the problem. I had already unplugged all my fans etc and tried different things to see if my pump was pumping and it was. The problem was on 3/4 of the cpu's surface was covered with thermal paste and 1/4 was bare. I assumed I had mounted the cooling block correctly but I must have not done :/ So yeahhh that must be the reason for such high temps! I've ordered some Noctua NT-H1 thermal paste to apply and reinstall the block and I will make sure the whole cpu is in contact with thermal paste and then hopefully my temps should be where they should be at :)

Hi again :) Got back from England and my Noctua NT-H1 had arrived. So I rushed to install it and everything but the metal used for the h60 in the screw holes is terrible and ended up becoming larger and the screws just got pushed through so I had to pop over to a hardware store and get new larger screws! I've used the Corsair box fan that came with h60 in a pull configuration and the Sp120 quiet edition that I bought in a push configuration :) It looks good and I mounted the block with the Noctua NT-H1 and my temperatures are around mid 30's degrees celcius at idle and under load in battlefield 3 it went to about 64 degrees celcius (same temperatures with the cpu burner in MSI kombustor). I think these are good as I have read under 70 degrees celcius is good. I'm happy with it and it should hold with gaming and I won't be overclocking. Sorry for any typo's as I got a mechanical keyboard for my birthday (it's amazing but need to get used to it ahaha). I also applied the thermal paste twice, first time I did it I removed the block just to see whether my method spread it well and then second time I haven't changed anything, the tmperatures only went up by like 2-3 degrees but I'm not fussed.

your temps will go down eventually, theres a burn in time for thermal pastes. overall those temps look great, and im gonna get a mechanical keyboard sometime too. they sound amazing. im waiting for the corsair rgb keyboard though, that looks cool

Yeah they are amazing. And that corsair k70 rgb looked really good. Mine was good, worked for about half a day then now every device it connect it to nothing happens :/ the lights dont turn on and there is no noise nothing happens, even though earlier today it was working perfectly fine...im worried and don't know the problem! The keyboard has two usb cables, one for the keyboard and one for ubs pass through, when I plug both usb cables in and then plug my mouse into the ubs port on the keyboard the mouse lights up and works but the keyboards does not!... So I'm worried because if it's a situation where I need to return the item to where I bought that is not easy and I am leaving very soon to a new country where I will be living - worst part is I won't get my pc until christmas :'(
