Hi there,

I am in the process of putting together a new PC build. The purpose of this build is to use it as a general workstation for me and my wife as well as casual gaming. I would like to future proof it as much as possible and play games on high or ultra settings at 60+ frames (1080p) for at least 2-3 years before needing to upgrade. Mainly to be used for strategy games and COD.

I am on a budget of approx $1600-$1800 (Australian Dollars), though I would prefer to keep it lower if possible.

These are the parts I am looking at:
Thermaltake Versa H17 M-ATX - $59 (prefer smaller cases)
Ryzen 5 3600 - $329
Gigabyte B450M S2H AM4 M-ATX - $129
Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB 2666MHz - $139
MSI GTX 1660 Super Ventus 6GB - $469 (or 1650 Super??)
Samsung Evo 250gb SSD - $98
Seagate Barracuda 1 TB 7200rpm - $74
Corsair CV 650w 80 Bronze Non-modular - $109 (overkill?)
Windows 10 OEM - $178
Asus PCE-AX3000 Dual Band Wifi Card - $79 (wifi card needed as no ability to connect LAN cable)
Corsair ML120 fans x2 - $45
Approx cost including assembly costs: $1850 (through Mwave)

Would really appreciate some advice on other parts that may be better or more cost effective for my relevant uses.

Thanks in advance,
Brandon

Solution
replace the RAM with 2x8GB and at least 3200MHz (3600MHz would be the sweet spot)

I took the wireless adapter just for price reference , no need to change from the ASUS

EDIT:
This motherboard might not work without a BIOS update with the Ryzen 3600. Ask the shop if it´s 3rd gen Ryzen ready. If not, the shop or you need to update the BIOS first with a 1st or 2nd gen CPU.

Hi and thanks for this! very helpful. Are you aware of any budget motherboards that would be 3rd gen Ryzen ready?
I have identified the ASUS TUF B450M-PLUS GAMING AM4 M-ATX Motherboard, however, I am unsure whether this would be suitable.
The motherboard also needs a PCI-e slot far enough away from the GPU to ensure a wifi card can be installed.
May also be able to look at the MSI B450M Mortar Max?
