any tips or ideas for the rest of the build?

little side question is the CPU/mobo i have worth about 300-350 if i do end up buying it lightly used?

Solution
i have placed some other thinks for ur PC
i did not add the things that u already have

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/gzgR9W

vist this once

add this things also that u already have
gtx 1070
i5-6600k
850 watt powersupply

now ur PC is high end gaming PC
u can play all games in ultra
enjoy
but editing in that can u go for i7 processor or i xeon processor in intel?
Which power supply are you looking at?

$350 is barely below the Amazon price in the US for the cpu/mobo combo, so it depends on what lightly used means and the warranty situation. The value is entirely dependent on you though.

I just got an offer for $650 Canadian

coolermaster master 5 case
250 gb ssd samsung 850 evo
intel i5 6600k
z170 mobo
is this worth it all of it was used a few months at most so very light

Sorry about that to summarize the situation...
i currently have a gtx 1070/850 watt powersupply
and potentially buying a i5-6600k/asus z170 matx/coolermaster 5 case/250 gig samsung 850 evo SSD for $650 what i am trying to asking is, is it worth 650$ canadian for those 4 parts and if yes then what ram/cooling/etc do i go from there

p.s sorry my question asking is astronomically terrible

Haha "astronomically" might be a little harsh. I will be referring to all $ amounts in USD as that's where I am (although being in Minnesota I'm not too far from the border).

Do you have the specific name for the case? Typing just coolermaster 5 brings up several models with coolermaster and 5 in the titles, ranging from $59 to $149 on Newegg. Mastercase or MasterBox, perhaps? Or maybe it's an old model, but even they usually show up on Google.

he didn't say exactly but id have to assume its this one https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/jcH48d/cooler-master-masterbox-5-black-atx-mid-tower-case-mcx-b5s1-kwnn-11

Well I can't say for sure because while I can look at USA prices and convert them to Canadian dollars, that doesn't mean these parts are available at the same price after conversion in Canada.

In $USD here are the prices including shipping:

i5-6600k - $231
Z170 mobo ~ $175
Evo 250GB - $110
Your case ~ $85
TOTAL USD= $601 / CAN = $808 (new, assuming sale prices are equal)

So you're looking at theoretically $808 CAN new vs $650 CAN used, a roughly 20% savings over new. Without being sure about how the stuff was used and if warranties will still apply, I'd say NO. Save a little more and buy from a reputable Canadian retailer. Not only are the transfer of warranties questionable, but there will likely be no return option for used stuff from a private seller. Not worth the gamble in my opinion. Be patient and scrape up the extra dough- insurance always seems like a waste of money until you need it.

Let's get into what else your system will need after you actually have bought one, yes? 🙂

I'd say the system you were looking at is a nice rig. I'm assuming you're a gamer like myself? :) Let's talk about your budget and what types of games you play. Also, knowing your monitor's resolution is huge- it can make a big difference in how your system performs. A 1070 is a nice start. Tell me what brand/model this 850W psu is?

Ok so my current PC setup is as follows:
-random case that I got from a friend (not really improtant i think since buying new one)
-random 8 gb ram not ddr4 though which is what everyone seems to go for now
-amd fx 83500 cpu
-750 Watt corsair PSU
-gtx 1070 GPU
-random mobo (definelty needs replacing does not run intel i was told from a friend)
-and a cheap fan

DDR4 is a fad. No appreciable performance from DDR3- unless you're one of those gifted folks who can discern between 100ms (that's MILLIONTHS of seconds).
Your AMD processor is pretty weak by today's standards however- 3570K walks all over it and that's 5 years old.

OK my friend, you will need a new mobo ($99 USD buys plenty). i like Gigabyte- good value.
At least an i5 chip (i7 for editing and only makes a noticeable gaming diff in a few games)
