my pc isn't mainly going to be for gaming so don't you think the 6 core would be a better option?

umm lol. I'm beyond confused at this point :p That combo I listed you is about as good as it gets and yet you say it's too much, when you were about to buy a $500 3 year old CPU. :pt1cable:

Professional video editors use the i7 in their machines and it is not just for gaming at all. It's for the more part the best CPU you can get right now.

I'm not trying to mock or anything, I'm just really confused at what you are trying to build.

Could you answer some of these questions so we can better help you. :)

You shouldn't really need more than $1500 to have an amazing video editing machine with 3 monitors. Anything more than that is just adding on extras in my opinion. I'll see what I can come up with.

Do you already have the operating system and monitors? or are those your preferences?

won't more cores mean better performance in rendering videos?

Some tasks with be improved with hyperthreading, some tasks will be faster with more cores. In general, yes more cores will be better for rendering.

You are correct in saying the 4730k is one of the best CPUs for video editing, as I said before, I was just confused on your intentions at the start. :)

Your build will be great for what you need. I still recommend the Extreme6 as the choice of motherboard.

Here are some topics/builds about video editing machines. (they are short :p)
