I'm building a very budgeted gaming rig is for low end gaming and web browsing and music. Within my budget I have the option between the intel i3-2120 or the AMD phenom ii x4 955 with a GeForce 8400 GS GPU. My question is which would be better for gaming the i3 with the integrated graphics or the AMD with the low end GPU? If I got the i3 I would be relying on the integrated graphics.

If you don't mind I can recommend A-series of AMD (A10 5800K is best). They have good integrated GPU on their system. i3 integrated GPU is not that good enough for gaming. I am using i3-3210 now. But I can't run BOII without graphics card. I can play nfsmw 2012 but not in high settings.

If your budget is prior. Then go to 10 5800K. They can be overclock. I will recomend this system

CPU: AMD A10-5800K 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: ASRock FM2A75M-DGS Micro ATX FM2 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Case: MSI TC- (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 500W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V Power Supply

$350

Thanks alot for the suggestion! I didn't take into consideration that AMDs have decent APU's! That build actually blows mine out the water at least the CPU and Mother board! Now without an additional cooler would it be possible to OC this CPU? not to the it's limits just to maybe 4 ghz or 4.1 ghz? Or would an additional cooler be necessary for that?

 This CPU can run upto 4.2GHz. you don't need to overclock it. But if you want 5GHz. just add volt on it.
try to visit this link.. http://bit.ly/1axKuOf

To have a stable performance in overclocking. You need additional cooler of course.

Water Cooler would be recommended. but not probably needed. Just an Air cooler be enough.

If you will use phenom ii x4 955. It doesn't men this will not heat like 5800k. because phenom ii x4 955 has 125W power. The more the wattage or power consumption of the CPU. The more the heat you can take. 5800K is only 100W. 25 watts difference from phenom ii x4 955....
